Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3
Lord, make us poor in spirit. Show us, Your holiness, that we may be contrite and broken over the slightest infraction and the smallest hint of immorality. Help us to be completely dependent on You. Help us to abide in You, for You are the vine and we are the branches. If we remain in You and You in us, we will bear much fruit. Help us to realize that apart from You, we can do nothing. (John 15:5) Lord may we be stripped of all pride and self-assurance. Father as a deer pants for flowing streams, may our souls thirst and long for You. (Psalm 41:2) Lord, our hands are empty and we are helpless. Therefore, have mercy on us and grant us Yourself as our inheritance.
